Takes part in the first All-Russia exhibition of printing in St. Petersburg and is awarded a gold medal. Paints the pictures The Kama Near Yelabuga, Pine Forest. Sunny Day, and Pine Forest. Summer: works with his pupils in Merekyla. December: the magazine Niva (The Cornfield) publishes an article by Vasily Nemirovich-Danchenko, entitled "A Poet of Nature" and containing a review of the album 60 Etchings by I. I. Shishkin.
