January 10: 58 studies done by Shishkin in the summer and autumn of 1892 are put on display in the halls of the Academy of Arts. Another collection of his works appears - New Studies by I. I. Shishkin (published by F. Bulgakov, St. Petersburg). Paints the picture Dead Forest. Summer: works from nature in Duderhof, in the environs of St. Petersburg. Is made Full Member of the Academy of Arts. December 18: is appointed professor-director of the landscape class of the Academy's Advanced Art School (where he teaches from the autumn of 1894 to October 1895).
