Paints the canvases Twilight, Fount in a Pine Forest, The First Snow, Oak Grove. Attends gatherings at the house of Adrian Prakhov, a wellknown art historian, archaeologist and art critic who later supervised the painting of the famous St. Vladimir Cathedral in Kiev by Mikhail Neste-rov, Victor Vasnetsov and Mikhail Vrubel. Develops a type of print new in Russia - the intaglio-relief print. This method, akin to zincography, allowed large numbers of reproductions to be printed together with the text. Prints several of his etchings in the magazine Pchela (The Bee) whose art section was headed by Prakhov.
